First Tacks #2 – Creating reminders

Now that you have added equipment on board, here is a second tip on how to get the most out of Ready4Sea.

Remembering when to do what

The tricky bit, when you start having a variety of equipment on board, is remembering when it needs attention 😔

Of course, we’re talking about preventive maintenance for your equipment. Well before it painfully catches up with you in the event of a breakdown or failure 😫

💡 Ready4Sea therefore lets you add one or more reminders for each piece of equipment. This constitutes its maintenance plan.

Create a reminder in three easy steps

Now let’s look at how to add a new reminder.

1. Start creating a reminder

➡️ From the equipment view or your boat view, open the reminder ⋮ menu and select “New reminder ⊕”
ℹ️ This is also available on the reminders page (in the bottom nav bar) using in the top right-hand corner

2. Enter the reminder’s name and characteristics

➡️ First of all, choose whether this reminder will apply to :
a specific piece of equipment, and which one,
the boat overall (ideal for a chart subscription or insurance policy),
yourself (e.g. for a licence or membership).
ℹ️ A number of fields allow you to choose the title of the task, its priority, any notes and a location.

3. Specify the due date and frequency

➡️ Crucial information about a reminder: the due date needs to be given
➡️ You can also specify how often the task should be carried out
➡️ To be sure not to miss the reminder, select how you want to be notified

Set suggested reminders

Ready4Sea can guide you and make the process quicker. For some equipments, you can set reminders in bulk.

1. Start creating a reminder

➡️ From the equipment page, open the reminder ⋮ menu and select “Suggested reminders”

2. Select the reminders you want to add

➡️ Set an initial due date for the new reminders (you can fine tune this later on)
➡️ Select the reminders which should be added
➡️ Confirm to set the reminders

3. Fine tune reminder settings

➡️ Now set the due date, the preferred recurrence pattern, as well as any other setting for the newly added reminders
