First Tacks #3 – Running down a checklist
You have added equipment on board and you also know how to create maintenance reminders. So here’s a third tip for getting the most out of Ready4Sea.
Remembering it all
As an accomplished boat skipper, you ultimately operate much like an aircraft pilot, whose favourite tool is the checklist. Whether you’re dealing with major procedures like a refit, seasonal milestones like wintering, or simply getting underway without forgetting anything, the checklist is your friend.
You can even use them to check that you’re up to date with the mandatory safety equipment, or perform the necessary checks and maintenance when you charter your boat.
💡 Ready4Sea therefore provides you with checklists that are both comprehensive and tailored to your boat (they only apply to the equipment you have on board).
Running down a checklist in three steps
Let’s now look at how to launch, check and complete your lists.
1. Launching a checklist
➡️ In the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, tap on “Lists”.
➡️ Select the desired checklist.
ℹ️ Only the tasks that apply to your equipment are listed. Those that apply to equipment you don’t have on board are shown in a second, greyed-out list.
➡️ Press “Launch this checklist”.
2. Running through the checklist
➡️ Tick off each task as you complete them one by one.
ℹ️ You can come back to the list at a later date. It will remain open and the application will remember ticked items as long as the checklist has not been closed.
3. Completing the checklist
➡️ When you have completed your list, click on “Complete this checklist”.
➡️ If all the tasks have not yet been ticked, you will be asked to confirm.
ℹ️ The checklist is automatically added to your maintenance log. Details of the completed and unfinished tasks are recorded – the log will be the subject of our next tip.
